Celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month at the Maryland Zoo! Enjoy a day of fun entertainment, community vendors and resources, cultural activities, hands-on crafts, and special Zoo experiences including keeper chats and animal ambassadors.
This event is rain or shine and free with Zoo admission or membership.

what to expect:
Vendors & Cultural Experiences:
- Access to community, artisan, and food vendors
- Cultural performances (Main Entrance):
- 10:00 AM: Chinese lion dancing
- 11:00 AM & 3:00 PM: UMBC Korean Dance Club Performance
- 1:00 PM: Hula performance
- 2:00 PM: Kpop Dance Workshop for all ages!
- Origami craft activity thanks to Pinwheel Crafts
Educational Activities:
- 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Located in the Penguin Education Center
Animal Ambassador Keeper Chats:
- 11:30 AM: Prehensile tailed skink at Penguin Education Center
- 1:30 PM: Chinese alligator at Northern Passage
Please note: Animal Ambassador schedules and locations may change due to weather.
Animal Keeper Chats:
- 11:00 AM: Crane Barn keeper chat
- 12:00 PM: Marsh Aviary keeper chat
- 1:30 PM: Pelican keeper chat
- 3:00 PM: African Aviary keeper chat
Additional Fun Throughout the Zoo:
- Meet & greet with Zoo mascots
- Story time in the Penguin Education Center at 10:30 AM
- Puppet show at the Oasis Café at 11:30 AM
- Face painting
- Train and carousel rides
