There’s a big buzz around bee conservation and with good reason. Honey bees play an important role in pollination and crop production, but also in the health of our planet. These tiny, powerhouse insects are critical to us and our future. The Maryland Zoo has joined the effort to help grow knowledge and educate guests about honey bees by caring for our own hives. On this episode of Off Exhibit we talk with Zookeeper Anthony Snyder who is part of the team of animal professionals working with honey bee hives here at the Zoo.

Discover the lessons he’s learned about working with bees and some of the unique benefits only bees provide us and our environment. Plus, find out the simple ways you can help honey bees in your own backyard. It’s a sweet conversation full of facts about one of the animal kingdom’s most productive and beneficial species.
