What is #GivingZOOday?

The most generous day of the year is Tuesday, December 3rd. After giving thanks, eating and shopping the sales, #GivingTuesday is a time to give back to your favorite nonprofit organizations. Here at the Zoo, we celebrate #GivingZOOday as conservation organizations like ours around the country call on supporters to help us save species from extinction — supporters like you!

A $50 donation could buy…

13 pounds of ground meat and we’re not lion! Help the animals chow down this year!

A $100 donation could feed…

the entire African penguin colony for one day! And they are always fishing for compliments.

A $250 donation could buy…

four months worth of pretzels, cereals, oatmeal, and jelly which are used for animal enrichment treats. Yes, that’s the way the cookie crumbles.

A $500 donation could buy…

three weeks worth of grain for the elephants, just one part of their daily diet!

A $1,000 donation could buy…

a week’s worth of crickets for the birds, reptiles, and amphibians at the Zoo!

Can I do more?

Making a gift is the most important contribution you can make on #GivingZOOday, but there are other ways to help too…spread the word! Everyone loves animals, so tell your friends about the conservation work the Zoo is doing and encourage them to give today. One easy way to do this is sharing the Zoo’s #GivingZOOday posts on Facebook.
