Sunbeam Sundays

Monthly nature walks with the Zoo’s Naturalist for members only.

Member families explore a different natural area of The Zoo on the first Sunday (Member Morning) of each month. Along the way, through games and nature-related investigation, participants learn about the wild animals and native plants that share the zoo grounds with our exhibit fauna and flora. These events are free of charge, but pre-registration is required.

To reserve your space for this event you must be registered on the Zoo’s online store.  If you have not created registration before, click below.  Once you do, you’ll automatically be eligible to sign up for a SunBeam Sunday event.

Soak Up the Sun – Basking Turtles: 8/6/2017 10:30 AM-11:30 AM

Snappers, Red-bellies, Red-ears and Painted – these are the pond turtles that frequent the Zoo’s Waterfowl Lake. Explore this wild area of the zoo in search of pond turtles and their food sources. This program is exclusively available for Zoo Members. Meet at Front Gate.


Meadow Meanderings – Insects and Pollinators: 9/2/2017 10:30 AM-11:30 AM

Many insects reach adulthood in the late summer and early fall. Cruise the pollinator garden and Zoo meadows in search of insects of all shapes, colors, and sizes. This program is exclusively available for Zoo Members. Meet at Creature Encounters.
