Monthly nature walks with the Zoo’s Naturalist for members only.
One the first Sunday of each month participants will explore a different natural area and learn about wild animals and native plants.
These events are free of charge, but pre-registration is required.
Meet at 10:30 am at the Otter Statue at the Main Entrance of the Zoo.
To reserve your space for this event you must be registered on the Zoo’s online store. If you have not created registration before, click below. Once you do, you’ll automatically be eligible to sign up for a SunBeam Sunday event.
April 8– April Showers – How the Water Cycle Affects Native Plants and Animals Sunday, April 8, 10:30 – 11:30 am
April showers bring May flowers! Take a tour through the various components of the water cycle while learning about their effects on wildlife habitats within the Zoo. This program is offered exclusively to Zoo members.
May 6 – Oriole Magic – Introducing the Maryland State Bird – Sunday May 6, 10:30 am – 11:30 am
Many Baltimoreans have never seen this spectacular, yet surprisingly, common, blackbird that bears Charm City’s name. Through hands-on activities, participants learn oriole ecology while searching African Journey for both Baltimore and orchard orioles.
June 3 – The Secret Code – Fireflies and other Beetles – Sunday June 3, 10:30 am – 11:30 am
In June, fireflies light up the night skies with spectacular displays. Learn to decipher the “secret codes” behind these light shows while searching for lightning bugs and other true beetles. This program is offered exclusively to Zoo members.
