Sunbeam Sundays

Monthly nature walks with the Zoo’s Naturalist for members only.

Member families explore a different natural area of The Zoo on the first Sunday (Member Morning) of each month. Along the way, through games and nature-related investigation, participants learn about the wild animals and native plants that share the zoo grounds with our exhibit fauna and flora. These events are free of charge, but pre-registration is required.

To reserve your space for this event you must be registered on the Zoo’s online store.  If you have not created registration before, click below.  Once you do, you’ll automatically be eligible to sign up for a SunBeam Sunday event.

Crunchy Blankets – Life under the Forest Leaves Sunday, October 8, 2017 10:30AM – 11:30AM  

The forest seems like barren place until you look under the dead leaves covering the forest floor. Bring the family and search the leaf litter for the shy, but plentiful, denizens of the decomposition zone! Program offered exclusively to Zoo Members.

“Flying V’s” – Waterfowl of the Chesapeake Bay  Sunday, November 5, 2017 10:30AM – 11:30AM  

November marks the peak of the waterfowl migration to the Chesapeake Bay. Explore the Zoo’s waterfowl exhibits and learn more about these seasonal symbols of the Chesapeake region. Program available exclusively to Zoo Members.
