Help us welcome Big Mac to the herd
We’re taking the next step as our newest giraffe, Big Mac, gets ready to meet the world.
Back in November, we welcomed a new giraffe to the herd, Big Mac. Moving forward, we’ll be opening the Giraffe House to the public from 10:30 am to 4:00 pm, Friday through Monday.
Young giraffes can be easily startled by new experiences, which is why Big Mac’s introduction to guests is being done gradually as he finishes settling into his new surroundings and meeting other members of the herd.
Behind the scenes, keepers have been constantly adjusting Big Mac’s environment to get him used to the sights, sounds, and smells he’ll encounter when the Giraffe House is open to guests. Now it’s time for him to experience the public.
*Please note: Entrance is dependent on the giraffe reactions and staff may need to end the viewing hours early, or altogether, based on the animals’ wellbeing.

Important sneak peek Guidelines & Information:
- Viewing Hours – The Giraffe House is open daily from 10:30 am to 4:00 pm for public viewing of Big Mac and the rest of the herd.
- Admission – Entry is included with Zoo admission. No extra ticket or timed reservation is required.
- Animal Wellbeing – Entry is subject to the comfort of the giraffes. Viewing may be delayed, shortened, or canceled without notice if needed for the wellbeing of the animals.
- Accessibility – Visits can accommodate guests using wheelchairs or ECV; however, strollers are not permitted near the viewing windows. Strollers will be parked inside the entrance doors. Please remember that our giraffe has had little interaction with other animals and could become frightened by a service animal.
