Winter is upon us, but construction efforts are still heating up things at the site of the Zoo’s new African Penguin Exhibit. Despite some snowfall in December, good progress has been made on all the structures that are part of the new facility. The Penguin Interpretive Center is now taking shape as work on the main level begins. The Bait Shack, where guests can purchase pre-packgaged food and drinks is also now standing near Polar Bear Watch. Take a look at this most recent time lapse footage for a good look at what’s changed in the last month at the job site thanks to the Whiting Turner construction team.
Renovation update: Elephant Overlook is now closed and the lions are off-exhibit due to construction. The giraffes can still be seen inside Giraffe House. For more information about our exciting project, please visit: http://www.marylandzoo.org/africanjourney
