Apply to be a Zoo Teen volunteer!

2022 applications are currently closed.

This is a great time to be at the Zoo, and we need a fabulous crew of new volunteers to make it perfect. Dinosaurs are moving in, we are hosting the Association of Zoos and Aquariums national conference, and we are working harder than ever to inspire conservation and sustainability in our communities. Members of our teen program start out working with Zoo guests as guides and education support. Those who stick with the program may get engaged in projects like sustainable gardening, box turtle tracking, habitat interpretation, and naturalist activities at the Lodge.

The 2022 application is now open. The teen volunteer program is open to 14-17 year-old students with an interest in animals, conservation, and leadership.

All application materials must be received by Friday, May 13, 2022. Candidates will participate in a virtual interview with a current teen volunteer, and selected applicants will move on to an in-person group interview. Orientation and training will take place evenings and/or weekends in June, with volunteers starting a regular schedule as soon as school is out. During the school year, teen volunteers are asked to give 1-2 weekend days per month, with optional projects and committees.

COVID-19: All volunteers must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and must provide their card at Orientation.
