Zoo Crew Volunteer Program

The Maryland Zoo strives to inspire and educate young people to support the conservation of wildlife and wild places. Zoo Crew is a unique service-learning program for teens 14-17 years of age with an interest in conservation, education, horticulture, and animal science, with a desire to develop career skills and make a difference.

Applications have closed for the Summer 2019 Zoo Crew season.

Zoo Crew Information Packet

Zoo Crew is for students 14-17 with an interest in learning about animals, plants, conservation, environmental education, and careers with wildlife. Throughout the program, students learn about the Maryland Zoo’s mission, its animal inhabitants, and its significant role in conservation, while engaging in important team service projects throughout the zoo. Teens will increase and share their knowledge and passion for animals while gaining valuable experience in project planning, public speaking, and teamwork. Places in Zoo Crew are limited and admission for this program is competitive. Ideal candidates will be outgoing, hardworking, and eager to learn and have fun. Successful completion of the Zoo Crew program may be required for higher level volunteer opportunities.
