See the Zoo like you’ve never seen it before!

Polar Bear Watch is home to polar bears, grizzly bears and different species of arctic mammals and birds. Tour participants will walk through the bear building and see the kitchen and food preparation area, the video surveillance stations, and the bear dens. Keepers will explain how the bears are cared for and managed, and the status of grizzly and polar bears in the wild. The Maryland Zoo’s involvement with international conservation programs, such as Polar Bears International will be explained. The bears may be inside the dens depending on the time of year and breeding status, which would preclude scheduling a tour.

NEW! GET UP CLOSE WITH OUR 2-YEAR OLD POLAR BEARS

New polar bear youngsters, Neva and Amelia Gray, just recently made their public debut at The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore. The bears arrived from the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium in early October, a move recommended by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ Polar Bear Species Survival Plan® (SSP). The girls will be turning two years old in mid-November 2018.
