Carousel Project
Generations of Marylanders have fond memories of time spent at The Maryland Zoo. Some memories are specific-like seeing an elephant for the first time-while others recapture the happiness of childhood and beautiful sunny days. For most people, memories of the Zoo are sure to include the sounds of exotic bird calls mixed with the laughter of children riding the carousel.
In 2006, the Zoo will celebrate its 130th anniversary with the introduction of a new Victorian themed carousel, commemorative of its founding era. The new carousel will feature 30 unique and exquisitely designed animals that will be admired by generations of Zoo visitors to come. Play a part of bringing this fabulous carousel to life by "adopting" one of the carousel animals.
Your adoption is a permanent naming opportunity and will be acknowledged by a commemorative plaque on the animal of your choice. You can use a family or corporate name, or you can gift the animal to honor friends or relatives. Your support will ensure that the beautiful sounds of the carousel and children's laughter will remain a part of The Maryland Zoo well into the future.
