When: Sun September 22 , 2013 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Where: The Maryland Zoo

It’s about ensuring five rhino species live forever.  Join the Zoo on Sunday, September 22nd as we celebrate World Rhino Day.  It’s your chance to get involved and learn how to help raise awareness for these endangered giants.  The Zoo will host special keeper chats, animal enrichment, activities and educational areas where you can feed your need for rhino conservation information.

There are five rhino species – black, white, greater one-horned, Sumatran and Javan.  The Maryland Zoo is the proud home to two southern white rhinos in our African Watering Hole exhibit.  Get to know these unique animals, the threats to their survival and why conservation efforts are so critical.

Schedule of activities include:

  • 11:30am – Rhino Keeper Chat (African Watering Hole Exhibit)
  • 11:00am – 2:00pm – Meet the Keepers (Watering Hole Pavilion)
  • 1:30pm – Rhino Keeper Chat (African Watering Hole Exhibit)
