Experience wildlife and wild places like never before!

Travel beyond the boundaries of your classroom walls with hands-on field trips at The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore. Bring your classroom lessons to life as students traverse the wilds of Africa, explore sub-Arctic tundra and venture through the caves, forests, meadows and wetlands of Maryland. They’ll remember this trip forever.

FREE Field Trip for Maryland Students

Immerse your students in the world of science, math, and reading, and other subjects with a FREE self-guided field trip. This interactive visit to the Zoo engages children with the animals and habitats of Africa and the sub-Arctic, as well as the caves, forests, meadows, and wetlands of Maryland.  Visits are enhanced by special Zoo Education Stations where students interact with knowledgeable Zoo educators, come face to face with Animal Ambassadors, and participate in hands-on activities designed to support Maryland curriculum requirements.

Field trips are FREE for students of Maryland public, private and home schools, day care facilities and Head Starts. One adult (teacher or chaperone) enters free for every four Maryland students admitted. Additional, non-student children can attend at a cost of $8 per child.

From August 26, 2016 until June 17, 2017, additional adults visiting with a pre-registered Maryland school field trip pay just $11 each!

For more information, visit the School Programs page.

Important New Policy: During the months of July and August, only summer and year-round schools certified by MSDE will qualify for the Free Admission Program. Your institution must be included on the list supplied to us by the MSDE in order to qualify for free admission in July and August. This new policy was instituted in order to overcome the problem of some summer camps misrepresenting themselves as qualified candidates for the Free Admission Program. Summer camps do not qualify for free admission at any time. Maryland day cares qualify for free admission every month of the year EXCEPT July and August. During these two months, all day care and summer camp visitors entering with pre-registered groups will pay the group rate.
