BALTIMORE, MD — This year Towson University presents Zoo Zoom, The Maryland Zoo’s signature 8K race on Sunday, November 12, 2017. Race registration has just opened, click here to register!

New course! One of the benefits of racing at the Zoo is racing through the Zoo and we’ve mapped a new course for 2017. The race begins at 8:30 a.m. in front of the Zoo’s Mansion House, winds through Druid Hill Park and into the Zoo, this year careening down Buffalo Yard Road into the Maryland Wilderness, through the Farmyard, past the train, out into the Park and back into the Zoo past chimps, lemurs, giraffes, penguins and more! Then it’s out into the park past the K-9 until and up Mansion House Road toward Waterfowl Lake Pavilion for the finish! It’s a wild race over a few of the parks’ dreaded Druid hills and past more of your favorite zoo critters. For families looking for something a little tamer, there is also the One-mile Family Walk and Kids Fun Run, scheduled to begin at 9:30am.

Zoo Zoom 8K awards will be handed out for both male and female top overall finishers, and awards will also be given out by age group. Registration for the 8K race includes bib, chip-timing, long-sleeve commemorative T-shirt and all day admission to the Zoo on race day. Once again this year we encourage you to come dressed as your favorite animal and you could win a prize! The post-race party will include food and refreshments, awards ceremony, and visits from some of the Zoo’s Animal Ambassadors.

Zoo Zoom is limited to the first 1,750 entrants. Registration for the 8K is $45. Registration for the Family Fun Run is $35 with a premium or $20 without the premium; Zoo members receive a $5 discount on all registrations. All proceeds support The Maryland Zoo and its many conservation efforts.
