Progress continues on the Zoo’s new African Penguin Exhibit.  Concrete and foundation work on the first of three buildings is nearing completion as the Penguin Interpretive Center is beginning to take solid shape.  The latest time lapse footage shows work completed between late September and early October.

The Penguin Interpretive Center, the largest of the three spaces will feature underwater viewing, a classroom for educational experiences and restrooms for public use.  The building, like all exhibit spaces, is being constructed to look like buildings typical of the South African fishing industry.  It will have a weathered and aged look to reflect the common coastal spaces found near habitats of penguins in the wild.
