Love is in the Air at The Maryland Zoo
January 11th, 2012
BALTIMORE, MD – Did you know that cranes have elaborate courtship dances, male Panamanian golden frogs chirp and “wave” to attract females, and male porcupines have a decidedly strange courtship ritual which involves dousing the female with his urine? These are just a few of the fun facts that you will learn about courtship and mating in the Animal Kingdom at our wildest event of the year, Sex at the Zoo! Join us on Thursday, February 9, 2012, for the Adults-Only event, Sex at the Zoo.
This wild Valentine’s Day event is full of fun and surprises as several members of the Zoo’s animal staff divulge the secrets, scandals, and shocking facts of jungle love! This year, the zoo’s adult-oriented evening will take place in the Chimpanzee Forest, home to the Zoo’s chimpanzee troop, black-and-white colobus monkeys, porcupines, Panamanian golden frogs and the Coquerel’s sifaka family featuring young Otto and his baby brother Nero. The event includes an open bar, sumptuous hors d’oeuvres, and decadent desserts.
The event is held from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm and is appropriate for those 21-and-over. Tickets are $80 per person or $130 per couple and should be purchased in advance at www.marylandzoo.org. Parking will be near the Zoo’s Mansion House closer to the special event entrance. Guests will walk through the gate and down the African Journey boardwalk to the indoor, heated Chimpanzee Forest building.
The birds and the bees will be here, and you should be too!
